Improving an Active Lifestyle through COVID-19 Gymnastics in Adults

Abstract

In an era that tends to have limitations in carrying out various outdoor activities like today, physical activity or sports done at home is the best solution to maintain an active lifestyle. Gymnastics is one of the best options that can be done. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing COVID-19 gymnastics on increasing an active lifestyle in adults. The experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was used in this study. COVID-19 gymnastics for 6 weeks was given to 150 adults in Indonesia. The instrument used in this study is the Spanish Health Lifestyle Questionnaire (SHLQ) which has been adapted. Data analysis was performed using SPSS Version 24. The results showed that there was an increase in active lifestyle scores from before and after being given treatment 8.3%. In addition, the results of the test conducted showed that the implementation of COVID-19 gymnastics had a significant effect on increasing an active lifestyle in adults. This study concludes that the application of COVID-19 gymnastics can improve an active lifestyle in adults. COVID-19 gymnastics can be an alternative solution for adults to stay active despite various limitations.
