Analysis of Learning Skills Reinforcement Needs New Students in Post-Pandemic Learning based on Gender Perspective

Abstract

Study skills are an important asset for students to achieve successful university studies. This study aims to analyze the need for strengthening student learning skills after the pandemic. The research, which was conducted at the State University of Malang, involved 76 new semester students in the fields of social and humanities and exact sciences. Data was taken by distributing an inventory of learning skills in higher education which contained 8 important aspects with 62 statements. After going through descriptive statistical data analysis, it was found that among the eight essential learning skills in higher education, male students really need to strengthen skills in synthesizing learning outcomes and managing time, while the need for strengthening scientific writing skills and the ability to find and understand references lies in in the medium category. Meanwhile, female students. The results of this study recommend the need for academic guidance services, especially time management training, analytical thinking skills, synthesis and training in the preparation of scientific papers for new students, taking into account the gender perspective.
