EMOTIONAL EATING AND OBESITY IN ADOLESCENTS: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW a) Postgraduate Program of Human Nutrition, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarata, Indonesia Abstract Obesity is one of adolescents nutritional problems that increases the risk of degenerative disease. One of the factors that causes adolescent obesity is emotional eating. Adolescents are a stress-prone age group and at a sufficiently high risk of experiencing emotional eating. The literature was searched using electronic databases (SpringerLink, PubMed, and Science Direct) using the following keywords: ^Emotional eating^,^Obesity^,^Adolescents^. PICO tables was used as a framework for this literature review. Eligible articles were included if they were: published from 2012 to 2022, written in Bahasa or English, discussing about the relationship between emotional eating and obesity in adolescents. Based on literature that were reviewed, emotional eating increasing unhealthy food consumption among adolescents it is linked with the tendency emotional eaters for overeating and eat unhealthy food, high in fat and sugar. High consumption in fat and sugar would increase the risk of obesity in adolescents.This review concludes that emotional eating significantly relation with obesity in adolescent.
