Abstract
The use of environmentally friendly packaging for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) has become a new trend. Environmentally friendly packaging in addition to having a direct impact on the environment also has an indirect impact in encouraging business progress. The purpose of this study was to determine the perception of MSME actors towards environmentally friendly packaging and the motives of MSME actors in using environmentally friendly packaging. Using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, this study reveals the behaviors and thoughts that influence them to use environmentally friendly packaging. The results of this study indicate that MSME actors already have a good understanding of environmentally friendly packaging. The motive of business actors in choosing environmentally friendly packaging is to encourage increased marketing. The obstacle faced is that it is relatively expensive compared to packaging made from polymers, thus causing product prices to increase.
