Optimization of an Ointment Formula Combination of Ethanol Leaf Extract (Muntingia calabura L.) and Manuka Honey for Burns 1) Department of Pharmacy, Muhammadiyah University of Magelang Abstract Muntingia calabura L have bioactive compounds such as saponins, flavonoids and tannins. Muntingia calabura L flavonoid bioactive compounds can have a significant effect on reducing the degree of erythema in guinea pigs with shallow second degree burns. Manuka honey has benefits in accelerating the healing of burns. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum formula of an ointment combination of 95% ethanol extract of Muntingia calabura L and manuka honey for healing burns. Muntingia calabura L extract was made into an ointment with a concentration of 5% and manuka honey in a concentration of 15% and 30% with quality control tests which included organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spread ability, adhesion, protection, and stability tests. The results showed that the formulas F1c and F2c combined 5% cherry leaf extract ointment and 30% manuka honey fulfilled all physical parameter tests of the preparations.
