COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM AS A SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC STRATEGY IN PELA TOURISM VILLAGE

Abstract

The community empowerment program aims to maximize the potential of a village to improve the welfare of its community. This research was conducted to determine the form of action and community empowerment programs. This study used a qualitative approach, data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. Community empowerment is carried out to provide changes for the community in Pela tourism village, especially in increasing knowledge. With trainings such as taking care of Mahakam dolphins, people will know how to take care of these steps and other trainings such as homestay management, tour guides, and others in order to provide good service to tourists, so that tourists feel satisfied with services provided by the Pela Tourism Village community.
