Abstract
The business sector experienced a decline in sales during the Covid-19 pandemic, including the pottery industry produced by Banyumulek craftsmen in Lombok. Improvement efforts can be made by reducing production costs through innovation. Especially for the combustion process. Burning must be maximal and even to get good results. This process requires large fuel costs. The solution offered is to conduct training to make products without burning (energy saving). The process is fast and environmentally friendly, without leaving the characteristics of products made of clay. Meanwhile, the utilization of production waste in the form of fuel ash and fly ash (waste from Jeranjang power plant). The method used is to provide training in the technique of making clay geopolymer products mixed with waste. The training is carried out by forming small groups in limited numbers to avoid crowds. The training and mentoring went smoothly and provided additional insight and knowledge of the community (craftsmen) about geopolymers. The provision of materials and examples during the training facilitates the absorption of materials and skills of participants in selecting materials, mixing materials according to composition, mixing and printing geopolymer pastes into craft products. Thus, craftsmen are able to make products in the form of geopolymer souvenirs made from clay, without the combustion process.
