Abstract

The increasing need for electricity along with population growth and economic growth will affect the stability of the availability of fossil energy that cannot be renewed. Based on the 2021-2030 RUPTL, the growth in demand for electric energy will grow by about 4.91%. Although the growth projection in demand is small due to the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic, but given the availability of fossil energy, this is a consideration so that the need for other supporting alternatives such as solar cells or energy that belongs to the renewable energy. To increase the utilization of solar cells, special training is needed to the community to increase public awareness of the importance of solar cells and help increase public understanding in solar cell planning as an alternative energy source for the consumption of electricity needs.
Methods used in training of solar cell planning as an alternative energy source include 4 methods, including lecture method, demonstration / demonstration method, discussion / question and answer method and practical / psychomotor skills method. Based on the results of the training that has been carried out, it was found that there was an increase in the knowledge of the people who participated in the training compared to before the training. So it can be concluded that the training of solar cells planning as an alternative energy source is in accordance with what is expected as a means in improving public understanding in planning PLTS as an alternative energy source
