Abstract

This study aims to explore the effect of gratitude and optimism on the Subjectives Well-Being of densely populated residential communities on the coast of Jakarta. The approach used in this study is quantitative by measuring the Gratitude variable using The Gratitude Questionnaire - Six Item Form (GQ-6) 6 item Questionnaire =0.567 McCullough, ME, Emmons, RA, & Tsang, J. (2002), optimism variable using Seligman (2006) =0.793 and Subjectives Well-Being variable =0.908 with Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE) =0.873 Diener & Biswas-Diener (2009), and Life Satisfaction Scale (SWLS Indonesia), =0.856. The reliability test of the three variables obtained the variable value of = 0.635. The subjects studied in this population were 109 respondents whose data were taken in one RT in Kalibaru Village, North Jakarta. The results show that there is a significant positive effect between gratitude and optimism together with SWB of R = 0.729, meaning that Gratitude and optimism together is an attitude instrument needed to raise psychological well-being or Subjectives Well-Being (SWB) in society.
