Abstract

Cadavers are essential learning medium for medical students. A research study confirmed the medical students who joined whole body dissection course improve their anatomical knowledge in a significant way. One of the methods for a medical institution to obtain a cadaver is receiving it from a person who voluntarily donates his body to medical institution. This paper aims to describe the statutory regulations and procedures of cadaveric donations in Indonesia. The research uses normative juridical research method, a method of legal research that involves studying the library materials or secondary materials. This research method uses secondary data as main reference and primary data to support the secondary data. The secondary data is obtained through studying and analyzing various books, articles, thesis, laws. The primary data is ascertained through interviews with medical students and a donor^s spouse. This research paper concludes that sufficient regulations govern organ donor and cadaveric organ donation need to be passed. It further suggest to create a national program so that it may be easier for potential donors to donate their organs which in the end will improve the medical students competency and standard of medical studies.
