Hybrid Learning in Jakarta Public Schools: The Role of Technology and Communication in School Reopening Program during Pandemic

Abstract

After Indonesia has successfully passed the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, the government has started reopening the schools in stages including Jakarta. This research is aiming to find the role of the collaboration of technology and communication in supporting school reopening program for public schools in Jakarta since April 2021. The methodology of the research is qualitative with interview and a participant observation as the data collection techniques. The result has shown that the school reopening program organized by the Jakarta Education Agency has involved fully a collaboration of technology and communication. Started with the screening assessment, the teacher training, and the Hybrid Learning which finally become the accommodative method to fulfill the needs of new normal teaching and learning during the school reopening program and ended with the daily report. All the technology advancements have become the government chosen solution to keep the schools and the whole education activities in Jakarta, safe.
