Surface Roughness Optimization of Lathe Process for Mild Steel 37 using Taguchi Method (a,b) Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur, Samarinda, Indonesia Abstract Higher product quality is one of the main challenges for any manufacturing industry. In this research final surface roughness was analyzed and optimized with a standard value of the turning process i.e. 0.5-6 μ-m. The experiment has investigated the effect of some factors such as spindle speed, feed rate, depth of cut, cooling, and carriage traversing wheel. Each factor has two levels. The experiment has been conducted using the L8 design of experiment Taguchi method. The results have been analyzed using ANOVA and Matlab software. Factor E, i.e. carriage traversing wheel, influences the surface roughness of ST 37. Keywords: Surface roughness- Mild Steel 27- Taguchi Method- ANOVA Topic: Engineering and Technology |
