Abstract

This study aims to describe how ecological values that concern on the environment can be included in learning literature in schools. In the midst of issues of natural damage that are troubling the world, such as rising air temperatures, uncontrolled waste, air pollution, floods, etc., literature as a medium, that functions not only to entertain but also to educate, can be used to raise awareness among students at school by incorporating ecological values into literary learning. The application of these values can be seen through learning to read and write literary works with current natural conditions theme, about the beauty of nature if it is not damaged by humans, how humans protect the universe, and what are the consequences of the destruction of nature for human survival and its contents. Teachers can use learning media such as videos and pictures of natural damage at the beginning of the lesson as an effort to provide an understanding of the consequences of not protecting nature, then give the students examples of literary works that contain messages to protect nature, then ask the students to make literary works with environmental care values, then the editing is done before publication on students^ social media therefore the message can be conveyed to others. With the application of ecological values in learning literature in schools, it is hoped that it can provide ecological awareness to students in order to save the earth from damage
