The Current State of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Technology as a Digital Transformation Enabler

Abstract

Digital technology is continuously evolving. Industries or the business world are trying to maintain their performance, efficiency, and compliance by initiating digital transformation in their organizations. Digital transformation is a necessity for many organizations^ sustainability. It has remarkably brought many advantages. To facilitate digital transformation, a variety of technologies have been developed. Robotic Process Automation is one of those technologies that considerably can be utilized as a digital transformation enabler. It is a relatively new and emerging business process automation technology. This study aimed to develop a systematic literature review to identify the current state of Robotic Process Automation as a digital transformation enabler and to what extent it can be utilized to proceed digital transformation. A complete bibliometric analysis has been created to generate a network visualization map and strategic diagram to give an overview of the current state of this technology. The result shows that robotic process automation can be utilized to proceed digital transformation with some particular attributes and conditions.
