Abstract

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that cause disease in humans and animals. In humans, it generally causes respiratory tract inflammation, ranging from the common cold to serious illnesses such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). In Indonesia, there were 4,242,532 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 143,299 people who died from COVID-19. For Gorontalo Province, there were 11.823 positive cases of COVID-19. Gorontalo Regency is one of the areas affected by COVID-19, with 373 confirmed positives. In connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Gorontalo Regency government urges residents to practice social distancing in all activities to avoid the transmission of COVID-19. But the government^s appeal was not easily accepted by residents, especially in Bulota Village.

The purpose of this study was to obtain in-depth data regarding the attitude of implementing social distancing as an effort to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 in Bulota Village, Telaga Jaya District, Gorontalo Regency. This research uses a qualitative research design with a case study approach. The method used is observation and in-depth interviews and documentations.

Results found in Bulota Village regarding Social Distancing, namely that people do not apply social distancing, stay at home, avoid crowds and practice good hygiene correctly. People assume that by not communicating and making physical contact with people outside the village of Bulota, they will not be infected with the virus. They even think that COVID-19 is a hoax. It is recommended that the Community Health Center and health workers carry out socialization related to the COVID-19 virus and provide education to the community, both village heads and local hamlet heads so that they can make strict rules and apply health protocols because some people do not understand COVID-19 prevention and did not accept the advice given.
