Abstract

Abstract

China, through the Belt Road Initiative (BRI) mega strategy, has involved in a lot of cooperation with other countries and also regions such as ASEAN. This paper aims to discuss the influence of China^s state capitalism in ASEAN region through China^s BRI investment strategy and the mastery of internet-based technology called the Digital Silk Road (DSR). Neo-Gramscian and Comparative Regionalism Theory are used to examine China^s foreign policy strategy and also to understand the evolving conditions of ASEAN. This study finds that China has successfully implemented its political economy strategy in the Southeast Asian region through the BRI infrastructure cooperation and the Digital Silk Road (DSR).
