Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this literature review was to get an overview of a strategic for preventing ulcer recurrence in patients with diabetes.
Method: Literature search focused on strategies for preventing ulcers recurrence in diabetic patients. Search the literature using keywords such as ^prevention strategy^, ulcer recurrence and ^diabetic foot^. Many articles were included for this study, such as systematic reviews, randomized controlled trials, quasi-experiments, and literature reviews with a range of 2011-2021. Amount databases such as PubMed, Science Direct, Embase, Web of Science, Springer Link, EBSCO (Academic Search Complete), ProQuest, and for both English and non-English languages were searched for relevant articles. Only articles in English are included in this review.
Results: Based on keywords, 8 articles were identified that focused on preventing ulcer recurrence in diabetic patients. The literature review summarizes the discussion of prevention strategies on ulcer recurrence in diabetic patients. Strategy prevention of ulcer recurrence in diabetic foot include- integrated foot care, educating patients and families, self-evaluation using skin temperature, self-efficacy and management, regular follow-up care, and use of therapeutic footwear. This review can be a reference for nurses and other health workers in choosing the best strategy prevention of ulcer recurrence in diabetic patients according to resources.
