Abstract
Earthquakes that occur in coastal areas with conditions of not dense sandy soil layers and shallow water levels can cause liquefaction. The phenomenon of unanticipated liquefaction will have an impact on building collapse and the occurrence of significant casualties and material losses. Therefore, this study will analyze the potential for liquefaction on the coast of Nusa Dua, Bali. In this study, an initial identification of the potential liquefaction was carried out. Based on the results of the initial identification, it was obtained that the Nusa Dua Bali area met the initial criteria for liquefaction, indicated by: 1. The soil structure is dominated by sandy, 2. The surface of the ground water is shallow, 3. The potential for earthquakes that may occur , 4. Dense buildings and hotels which become vulnerable during liquefaction. Henceforth, it is necessary to carry out a more analysis of liquefaction potential is.
