Abstract

Various cultural heritages exist at the Pura Dasar Bhuwana Gelgel (PDBG) which indicates that the temple is very old. Phenomenon that reinforces in this direction can be seen from the form of worship given to the three forces of nature, namely the goddess of the earth, the god of the sea, and the god of water. The three forms of worship have developed since the life of agrarian and maritime societies and reached their peak in the megalithic era. For them, the goddess of the earth, the god of the sea, and the god of water are the three forces of nature who are always worshiped to ask for safety in carrying out their work as farmers and sailors. When Hindu started to come, such a system of worship was traditionalized and continued until Hinduism entered. It was even used as a basis for accepting the belief system developed by immigrants (Hindus) and at the same time as the root from the history of the birth of PDBG.
Then from other aspects, namely by observing the layout of the temple, the structure of the temple and the building of the palinggih, the form and function of the palinggih, the system of religious ceremonies, etc., as an indication that the existence of PDBG always got attention both by power controllers and religious spiritual figures since Hindu started to spread its influence until the present. In order to reveal the various phenomena that appear on the surface, a qualitative approach is used by selecting the methods of collecting data from observations, interviews, and literature studies. In data processing, descriptive qualitative analysis and contextual analysis were used. As an attempt to answer the problem, structural functionalism and knowledge and power theories were used. With the hope that this research can produce something new (novelty).
