THE MORALITY OF THE STORY OF THE ORIGIN CORN BECOME MADURA FOOD FOR IMPLEMENTING STUDENT CHARACTER VALUE

Abstract

The Madurese cannot be separated from corn because corn is one of the Madurese^s main foods. The origin of the Madurese consuming corn cannot be separated from the story of the figure Aryo Menak. The story of the origin of corn as a main food for the Madurese contains many moral values that can be used as character development. This study aims to describe the values of morality of the story of the origin of corn as a staple food for the Madurese. In addition, the purpose of this study also aims to explain that the exposure to the values of morality can be used to cultivate local character values in schools. The results of this study found three moral values present in the story of the origin corn as a main food for Madurese, namely psychological, social, and religious. One of the psychological values that emerges is hard work. This value is in accordance with the philosophy of life of the Madurese, namely Asapo ^Angen, Abhental Ombha^, and Apajung Sajadah. One of the emerging religious values is loyalty. This loyalty is shown in the obedience of the hamlet head to the soleh. This is in accordance with the philosophy of Bhupa ^, Bhabu^, Ghuru, Rato. Meanwhile, the social value that emerges is helping. This value can be used as material to instill the character values of students in Madura because it is in accordance with the philosophy of Ngeco^ Tangka, Lanjhang Thobet..
