The STEM approach is used to give greater relevance to science subjects in schools
because with STEM we can directly discuss the world and real problems of students
and society. Regarding research suggestions on STEM, schools need to really
understand the essence of STEM learning, that is:
First, STEM must be focus on real issues or problems, so each lesson must be
contextual.
Second, STEM is an inquiry, hands-on, and open-ended activity. The curriculum in
Indonesia states that lessons must use scientific thinking.
Third, STEM is developed through an engineering design process, so that students
are always encouraged to be creative, make innovations and breakthroughs.
Fourth, STEM applies science and mathematics creatively, effectively, and
contextually.
Fifth, STEM allows multiple answers from students and corrects failures as an
important part of learning. Sixth, STEM builds the ability to work together.
