A Numerical Study of Savonius Water Turbine Performance Disturbed by Circular Cylinder in Front of Turbine Priyo Agus Setiawan, Triyogi Yuwono, and Wawan Aries Widodo

Abstract
The analysis of the Savonius turbine by using cylinder as passive control has been done. This paper will investigate the effects of the turbine diameter variations in front of turbine center by means of the CFD approach. This study use cylinder as disturbance to improve the turbine performance by placing the circular cylinder in front of turbine center or stagger angle 0 degree. The performance show that a circular cylinder decrease the turbine performance and the performance will decrease by increase the cylinder diameter.
