Abstract

Alternative electrical energy technology that utilizes natural resources is needed. Pineapple skin contains citric acid as much as 78% of the total acid. The citric acid in pineapple peels is an electrolyte compound. This research aims to create an innovative pineapple peel battery paste to produce electrical energy. Zinc as positive and negative poles and carbon rods as an electron absorber. A quantitative research approach using experimental methods to test the effectiveness of pineapple peels as a substitute for battery paste. The results obtained were 12 batteries using pineapple peel paste producing a voltage of 12 V and capable of turning on the LED for 144 hours. The citric acid in pineapple peels is electrolyte, so pineapple peels, zinc and carbon bars can be an innovative source of energy.
