Abstract
World has witnessed the drastic changes in Singaporean national leadership, as a Malay woman, Halimah Binti Yacob was elected as the President in the Singaporean Presidential election in 2017. She was sown as the 8th President of Singapore and the first ever woman president since its Independence in 1965. She is a historical phenomenon in Singapore politics for being appointed as the first woman to be the speaker of Singapore Parliament in 2013 and then the first woman became the 8th President of Singapore in 2017. Women have been assumed as kind hearted and sensitive persons toward the humanities, as many women leaders tend to be characterized as fully aware of clean and responsive governance, and concerned with welfare of their citizens. As such, this paper attempts to analyze Halimah Binti Yacob^s welfare policy since her position as the President of Singapore. Using primary and secondary data collected through various methods, this paper finds that there has been slightly change in Singapore domestic welfare scheme for Singaporean older employees and the lower wage workers in social net since she becomes the first woman President.
