Abstract
This study aims to investigate students^ perception towards the use of online platforms in speaking in an EFL classroom. In particular, this study focuses on the students^ perception, the advantages and challenges of students towards the use of online platform in EFL classroom. This study employs a qualitative research through a case study design. This study utilizes questionnaire and interview as the instruments. The participants of this study are students from 4th and 2nd semester of English education department in one private university at Cirebon. Eighteen students are involved in the study as the respondents which consists of nine students from 2nd semester and nine students from 4th semester. The findings indicate that although the use of online platforms is considered less effective, however, it can be an alternative when direct learning (face to face) cannot be done. The results also indicate that there are several advantages (i.e. flexibility, easy to access, promote students^ speaking ability) and challenges (i.e. complexity in comprehending the materials, unstable internet connection, plenty of assignments).
