Abstract
E-learning has become the choice of education providers in the New Era. After COVID-19 attacked the world, learning was carried out online by all universities in Indonesia. To support online learning, teachers are also looking for various alternatives to help students in the learning process. One of them is by providing learning alternatives through applications that can be downloaded for free. Mandarin is a language that is difficult to learn, therefore to make it easier for students to learn during the New Era, teachers provide alternative lessons through applications. The purpose of this study is to describe the similarities, differences, and functions of the Hello Chinese and Chinese Skill applications. Research method by comparing the function of the two applications. From the comparison, it can be concluded that the similarities are having Voice Record feature, Video feature, and Words feature. The difference is that the Chinese Skill application has HSK PRO features and games features, while in the Hello Chinese application there is a more complete settings feature than the settings feature in the Chinese Skill application. The function of these two applications is to increase vocabulary, improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Chinese Literature students think that these two applications help them in learning Chinese.
