Abstract

The diesel engine generator set operating at the Jeranjang Power Plan was damaged, before the damage indicated glowing in the exhaust manifold. This research is to identify the damage to the diesel engine generator set unit so that the same damage does not happen again. The research method used the fishbone analysis. From research conducted on diesel engine components that have problems, it was found that several injector components were jammed on the spring, cylinder liner crack, and the actuator jammed. As for the glowing indication, it is caused when the rack actuator jammed is in the open position of the injector and the condition of the injector spring is jammed so that unburned fuel is carried to the exhaust manifold, with the chemical reaction between CO2 + CO causing glowing in the exhaust manifold. In checking the cylinder head component, a crack was found between the exhaust valve hole and the intake valve. From the research using fishbone analysis, the damage to the diesel engine which resulted in a cylinder head crack, jammed injector component was caused by a diesel engine^s lack of radiator water.
