Abstract

Listening is one of the common English skills and it^s very basic that every language student must have especially for students of English Education Study Program of Peradaban University. The aims of this research is to design e-module of listening based on local wisdom in South Brebes to improve students^ listening skill achievement. The authors use Research and Development method of Borg & Gall in 1983. The product result of the research is a draft of e-module based on local wisdom in South Brebes. The subject of this research is fifteen second semester students of English Education Study Program of Peradaban University. The techniques of data collection are done by using interview, observation, and questionnaire. There are only three stages that the authors apply in this research, namely: preliminary study, planning, and the draft of e-module. The authors would present the result into four, namely: the lesson plan analysis, the listening teaching and learning, the students^ problem, and the draft of the listening e-module. (1) The lesson plan analysis is to help the students in improving their listening skills better. The description of the course designs the students of English Education Study Program of Peradaban University to retell some informations that have been heard through long conversations and monologues. (2) The observation^s result in listening class shows that 100% of the second semester students of English Education Study program of Peradaban University are not lazy and do not sleep while teaching and learning listening take place and 46.67% students are active and can ask questions, understand the contents, master the vocabularies, and make summary of listening materials. (3) The students still get some problems in listening class. There are 60% of the students who say that listening class is difficult. 53.33% of the students agree that they still find unfamiliar words in listening materials through videos or audios played.
