Abstract

This study aims to develop a STEM-based lesson plan that was implemented in elementary school fifth-grade students to improve critical thinking skills. This study uses the development method (Research and Development) with the Borg and Gall development model. The product validation test is done through the assessment team of experts, and the practicality test conducted by distributing questionnaires through the responses of teachers and education professionals, to provide an assessment and follow-up of products developed researcher, is in the form of STEM-based lesson plan based in science. The results based on objectives include: (1) Validation lesson plan 3 validator obtained from experts who earn a percentage score in a row by 75% (valid)- 82.5% (very valid) and 87.5% (very valid). (2) The results of the teacher practicality assessment obtained a percentage of 77.5% so that it is stated practical to be used to improve the critical thinking skills of the 5th-grade students in primary school. Based on the results of research and development, it was found that the STEM-based lesson plans developed by researchers can improve students^ critical thinking skills and have the advantage of conducting experimental simulations with scientific thinking. Then it has evaluation material about high-order thinking skills (HOTS), and this STEM-based lesson plan based on science already has contextual material and has a learning style that is in line with the development of students in primary schools.
