Question from Ms. Retno Rusdjijati

1. What problems did written batik craftsmen find in Solo and Yogya, so that this
research needs to be done?
2. How do the drawing table and canting not affect the performance of written
batik production?

1. This research is actually a comparative study to examine how the orientation
of batik production equipment in Central Java led them to rapid progress. This
research is a continuation of my previous research, in batik SMEs in Malang,
that the growth of production in Malang batik SMEs (and perhaps batik SMEs in
other areas in Indonesia, which are classified as new batik industries) is quite
slow. How is the orientation of equipment technology in Central Java, thus
bringing them to technological developments, which increases their productivity.
Last year^s research I reviewed various factors of production. And this year, I
want to look further at certain factors of production, especially on machinery /
equipment.

2. Excuse me, it^s actually canting and kenceng, that have an insignificant effect
(they have an effect, but the effect is not significant). This means that this tool
is influential, but the effect is not significant enough. In summary, both manual
and electric canting, and both ordinary (aluminum) and copper-based kenceng,
have insignificant effect on productivity. Either canting and kenceng, produce
tends to have little effect.
