Salam. Great research!
Interesting, as we know kids in age 2-7 years old according Piaget, they learning
something from concrete things. My questions are:
1. How they can develop their cognitive skills if they learn coding, its not concrete
things? I am agree that they can develop their creativity (by LEGO bricks, KIBO
ect), but the things which they learn not support cognitive development as
according to Piaget theory
2. what is the negative impact of coding for students who learn early?
Thank you for your good question. I would try to answer your question.
1. We know that children aged 2-7 years according to Piaget^s cognitive level are in
Preoperational where the main activity uses concrete objects. Related to the
introduction of coding, one of them is through the Unplugged activity, which is
without using a computer, one example of an activity is sorting pictures of daily life
activities (for example: washing hands) or providing directions (right, left, up to
under). In Piaget^s view, he also states that computational thinking as the basis of
coding can be introduced from an early child.
2. When I looked for a paper on coding for early childhood, I haven^t found any
negative impact from introducing coding from an early age
